These Black oxide-coated drill bits are general-purpose tools that are more durable than standard high-speed steel (HSS) bits and resist rust. They're good for drilling into hardwood softwood PVC fiberglass steel aluminum brass copper metal and plastic.Mechanics length drill bits are shorter than jobber drills and are less likely to break while still allowing a reasonable flute length. The shortening of the bit makes it considerably stronger and less prone to breakage and shearing making it suitable for harder drilling.
