Description
Description
The Star Alloys 116LH Low Hydrogen electrodes are premium alloys for all types of automotive and MRO welding joining and brazing repairs.116LH has an extra low moisture content to reduce hydrogen-induced cracking that can present itself in welding.
- Low Hydrogen high strength DC electrode for joining low and medium carbon steels. low alloy steels and construction steels
- Low spatter yield self-releasing slag and uniform ripple deposits
- 1116LH has an extra low moisture content to reduce hydrogen induced cracking in the weld
- Welds even dirty and greasy steel. Saves prep time
- Replaces many 70 series electrodes (7014 7018 7024 etc.) but has a higher tensile strength and elongation %
- Operates in all positions
- Flux Color: Gray
- Welding Positions: Flat Vertical Up and Down Horizontal and Overheah
- Recommended Current: DC Reverse (+)
- Recommended Amperage Settings (min/max): 1/8” (100/140); 5/32” (140/190)
- Tensile Strength: 120 000 psi
- Yield Strength: 96 000 psi
- Elongation: 23%
- Welding Techniques: For the majority of materials to be welded with these elctrodes minimum preheats between 212°F 176;F (100°F 176°C) and 392°F 176°F (200°F 176°C) is required to avoid hydrogen induced “cold” cracking. Remove all surface contaminants. Maintain a short arc gap and use a stringer or slight weave technique. Chip slag thoroughly between passes
